To create a multi-season visual content piece that answered the question when is the best time to visit Yellowstone National Park. This was to be sent as an email and converted into a blog post. This piece was created to highlight a guest’s story that was particularly inspirational and one I felt like our audiences would connect with. It was Natural Retreats first produced guest story and would serve as the building block for additional user - generated content stories in my annual plans.
The story told is about two men who share a last name but are not related and grew up as neighbors and formed a father/son relationship. When Don, the second dad to Jessie, was diagnosed with kidney failure, Jessie was found to be the only match they could find and he willingly donated his kidney without Don knowing it.Each year they celebrate their “Re-birthday” by experiencing something new - this year’s trip was a guided fishing trip at Natural Retreats’ South Fork Lodge.
For this article I worked with our Sales team and onsite team on ensuring that these guests had a special time during their celebration trip. I even worked with South Fork Lodge’s head baker to make a “Re-Birthday” cake and surprise them with it after dinner. After their trip, I interviewed Don and Jesse about their lives and what their experience at our Lodge was. It was such a powerful and encouraging story that I felt it needed to be shared, so I wrote the following blog.
I worked with our graphic design team to create this “Guest Story” email which gave a snippet of the story and encouraged others to read the blog. I also added a section encouraging readers to book a trip of their own and to share their experience with us.
The blog was distributed through each of our relevant social media channels including our national Facebook page and regional South Fork Lodge Facebook page - both organically and with a boosted spend.
